{"id":1739,"date":"2026-01-01T10:36:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T09:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alcove.crosss3.eu\/happy-new-year-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-02-18T11:36:24","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T10:36:24","slug":"happy-new-year-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alcove.crosss3.eu\/en\/happy-new-year-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy New Year 2026!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Interreg ALCOVE project team sends you its warmest wishes for the year ahead.<br\/><br\/>Our engineering teams, technicians and technical staff achieved major progress in designing, miniaturising, and assembling the sensors, resulting in the production of 11 electronic nose prototypes (V1 version) \u2014 the technological core of the project.<br\/><br\/>We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the clinical teams, who carried out essential preparatory work \u2014 administrative, organisational and logistical \u2014 to make the upcoming clinical study possible.<br\/><br\/>2026 will mark a decisive turning point with the launch of the first ALCOVE clinical study<br\/>The study will be deployed across 9 centres in the cross\u2011border region:<br\/>5 centres in Belgium<br\/>4 centres in France<br\/><br\/>This study, entitled \u201cDevelopment of a discrimination algorithm to assess e\u2011nose ability to separate lung cancer (LC) patients vs. non\u2011LC subjects\u201d, aims to expose the still \u201cnaive\u201d V1 prototypes to two populations:<br\/>individuals without pathology,<br\/>patients with resectable or non\u2011resectable lung cancer.<br\/><br\/>The goal is to develop and train a discrimination algorithm capable of identifying the resistance profiles specific to each group.<br\/><br\/>Primary endpoint of the study<br\/>To assess the ability of the electronic nose \u2014 and therefore the algorithm \u2014 to distinguish lung cancer cases from the non\u2011LC population.<br\/>The target accuracy is 80% (\u00b1 5%), with a minimum expected performance of &gt; &gt;75% to validate the primary objective.<br\/><br\/>An ambitious scientific challenge, made possible through close cooperation between French and Belgian partners.<br\/><br\/>The ALCOVE project warmly thanks the Interreg France\u2013Wallonie\u2013Vlaanderen programme, whose support allows us to advance research for the benefit of populations across the France\u2013Belgium cross\u2011border region.<br\/><br\/> Together, let\u2019s make 2026 a decisive year for health\u2011driven innovation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Interreg ALCOVE project team sends you its warmest wishes for the year ahead.
