{"id":2028,"date":"2026-08-05T10:03:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T08:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alcove.crosss3.eu\/?p=2028"},"modified":"2026-07-29T14:55:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T12:55:42","slug":"looking-back-at-alcoves-participation-in-gecco-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alcove.crosss3.eu\/en\/looking-back-at-alcoves-participation-in-gecco-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Looking Back at ALCOVE\u2019s Participation in GECCO 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last July, Adel Mokadem (University of Lille) represented the ALCOVE project at #GECCO2026 (Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference), one of the leading international conferences in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and optimization.<br\/><br\/>Participating remotely, Adel presented his research during the workshop &#8220;Decomposition Techniques in Evolutionary Optimization&#8221;, following the acceptance of his scientific paper.<br\/><br\/>This contribution focused on explainable multi-objective machine learning methods, a topic that closely aligns with ALCOVE\u2019s ambitions. At the heart of this research lies a key question: how can we develop high-performing algorithms while maintaining the ability to understand and explain their decisions? <br\/><br\/>Although the work presented was conducted using benchmark datasets from the scientific literature, the approaches developed address several methodological challenges that are highly relevant to the project: <br\/>&#8211; improving the exploration of complex datasets,<br\/>&#8211; enhancing the performance of artificial intelligence models,<br\/>&#8211; strengthening the interpretability of generated results.<br\/><br\/>GECCO 2026 also provided an opportunity to discover the latest advances in multi-objective optimization, genetic algorithms, and applied artificial intelligence, while engaging with a vibrant international community of researchers.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br\/>These exchanges are a valuable source of inspiration for the work carried out within ALCOVE and contribute to advancing reflections on the future exploitation of data generated by the electronic nose.<br\/><br\/>Beyond the scientific contribution itself, this participation helped increase the international visibility of the project and foster new connections within the artificial intelligence research community.<br\/><br\/>Congratulations to Adel Mokadem and the University of Lille teams
