At the beginning of July, Caroline Duc (IMT Nord Europe) represented the ALCOVE project at the CPER TecSant\u00e9 Scientific Day, held in Villeneuve d\u2019Ascq, France.As part of a workshop dedicated to volatile organic compounds (#VOCs<\/a>) in exhaled breath, Caroline presented the objectives of the ALCOVE project as well as the work carried out by IMT Nord Europe on the development of the sensors that will equip the future electronic nose.Participants had the opportunity to discover:-the historical breath sampling prototype that served as the basis for the design of the ALCOVE device;-several organic gas sensor prototypes currently under development;-the central role of these sensors, designed to react to the presence of specific compounds in exhaled breath and generate signals that will subsequently be interpreted by the project’s algorithms.The workshop also provided an excellent opportunity for exchanges between clinicians, researchers, and engineers.This diversity of profiles perfectly reflects the approach embraced by ALCOVE: bringing together complementary expertise to address a major public health challenge, namely the early detection of lung cancer.Thank you to CPER TecSant\u00e9 and IMT Nord Europe for organizing this event, which brought together numerous research and healthcare innovation stakeholders around projects with diverse yet complementary approaches.
